Pumpkin Day!

pumpkinday

Pumpkin Day. It’s the kind of day I always envision going perfectly. Everyone is home and cozy, spending time together, enjoying the season. In reality, it’s usually pretty tense. Someone gets pumpkin slime on someone else’s head. A carving design goes awry. It seems to get easier every year though. The older kids can carve their own pumpkins now, and they look forward to the familiar traditions. This year was actually very nice. We carved our pumpkins, roasted the seeds, ate pumpkin bread and read Pumpkin Day, Pumpkin Night under blankets on the couch. Then we lit the candles in our jack o lanterns, turned off all the lights, and got sort of creeped out. Ooooooooh!

Caramel Apples

Carmel Apples Blog

I love a lot of things about Fall; chief amongst them being caramel apples. Truth be told, I’ve probably eaten eight in the past week alone. Next down this slippery slope are pumpkin pie, hot chocolate, and pants that don’t fit. Bring on the holidays! Also, I should mention that putting caramel apples on crispy fall leaves is completely impractical. Don’t even think about it.

Ham and Bean Soup Recipe

Fall is my favorite season. I love the coziness, and the colors. It’s all wonderful to me. I like soup in the Fall too, so Amelia and I got fancy in the kitchen, and made some today:
